Show STEAMER WINNEBAGO ORDERED TO SAIL New York, Dec. 2. Richard F. Wagner, president of the American Trans-Atlantic company, -announced today that he had ordered the steamer steam-er Winnebago to leave Buenos Avres for Stamford, Conn., without further delay. The Winnebago is one of the vessels listed by the British govern-ment govern-ment as under suspicion of German ownership. She Is loaded with quebracho que-bracho wood. Early last month Mr. Wagner appealed ap-pealed to Secretary of State Lansing to arrange with the British government govern-ment to permit her passage to Stamford. Stam-ford. It Is understood that no such I request was made by Mr. Lansing and that the state department took the position po-sition that vessels flying tho American Ameri-can flag would be protected in their rights without special arrangement for immunity. oo |
