Show BUENOS AIRES TO STAGE CARNIVAL Raise $200,000 to Cover Traveling Expenses, Etc. Some Great Bouts to be Pulled Off. New York, Dec. 2. Millionaire South American, sportsmen are planning plan-ning for a pugilistic carnival to bo held at BuenoB Aires next spring. In which the four 'fistic championships of the world will be contested. Within the next two weeks the sum of $125,000 will be deposited In a local lo-cal bank, to be divided lat,or Into four purses and the additional sum of $75,000 to cover traveling, training and advertising expenses of pugilists and promoters. The bouts as outlined at present will bring together Jess Willard and the best heavyweight that can be obtained; ob-tained; the champion middleweights. Mike Gibbons of St. Paul and Les Darcy of Australia; lightweights, Freddy Welsh of England and Charley Char-ley White of Chicago; bantamweights, Kid Williams of Baltimore and Johnny John-ny Ertle of St Paul. Each bout, which will be 'for the championship of that class, will be for twenty-five rounds or more. Baron Nicholas Mlhanovlch is the representative of the South American capitalists and sportsmen who believo, that the pugilistic carnival will be of great advertising value to Buenos Aires and South America in general. Tom Jones and Jack Curley have been appointed the American representative repre-sentative and matchmaker for the backers of the carnival. no |
