Show WERE THE GQQD ARE TO GG WHEW THE LOiCOiES Taking for his text, "Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly world-ly luBts, wo should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ." Pastor Adams, In a sermon last night at tho tent, Washington avenue and Twenty-sixth street, said: "In this text we have the two great fundamental doctrines of the Christian Chris-tian religion. We are to overcome the , temptations of the evil one. Heaven would have us live righteous, and holy lives in this world. The Lord has not seen fit to take us out of the world, but to clve us power to over come sin In tho flesh, If we will only come to the fountajn of living waters, wa-ters, wash and be clean, and lay hold of the arm of Armlghty God, as the source of our strength. "That the children of God might be encouraged to serve the Lord, and that thoy might have something to Jook forward to, God sets before thorn the blessed hope of the coming of tho Lord the second time. The second coming of Christ has been tho hope set before tho church all the ages. Sin has caused all the woe, sorrow and doath. Tho plan of salva lion provides that some time sin will go to seed, and tho Lord will come, and the harvest or tho end of the present conditions will come. The church is encouraged to look forward to the tlmo that tho present conditions condi-tions will bo past, and God will save his people with an everlasting salva tlon "That will bo a- glorious day in deed. Tho earthly family ;will be united with the heavenly family. Paul says, 'And the Lord himself shall descend de-scend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of tho archangel, and with tho trump of God; and tho dead lr. Christ shall rise first; then we which are alivo and remain shall be caught up together -with them in the clouds to meet tho Lord in the air; and so shall wo ever be with tho Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.' I Thess. 4:16-18. "The saints of God are not simply caught up to dwell In space, but they go to the mansions the Lord has prepared for them. We Tcad, 'Blessed aro they that do his commandments, thoat then' may have right to the tree of life, and may enter In through tho gates Into the city.' Rev. 22:14. They are caughl up Into the air, and then pass into the city, New Jerusalem. They will have the privilege of visiting vis-iting the vast universe of God. They dwell in hoavon until the time comes for the earth to be made new, and then will return to the earth, and the earth made now will be the eternal home of tho saints, though, they have the privilege of visiting the universe." |
