Show 10 MEETINGS HELD BY THE PARENTS- J TEACHERS : Two interesting addresses on the subject of "Library Reading" were given yesterday by Miss Mary Downey, Dow-ney, state librarian, before local Pai'-ents-Teachers' associations. Tho first was at the meeting of the association of the Madison school district, held i mini 'muj.iwwmi-u.i HiiiaaEaa in the afternoon and the second, at a meeting of the Mound Fort school district dis-trict association, held in the evening. At the latter meeting, music was furnished fur-nished hy Mrs. Nylander, Mrs. Swen-son, Swen-son, Miss Vera Delamater and Robert Greenwell. Following Miss Downey's lecture, at each meeting, the question of the informal request of the city board of education for the resignation of Superintendent J. M Mills, was discussed dis-cussed and resolutions were passed, ashing that the request be withdrawn. The principal speakers on the question ques-tion at the Madison school meeting were Mrs. J. T. Lynch, Mrs. Chris Flygare, Mrs. Parley Wright, Mrs. J. R. Morrell, Mrs. Josephine Hirst, I. C. Emmett and Mrs. P. W. Knisely and the resolutions adopted were as follows: fol-lows: Whereas, the Ogden school hoard has undertaken to cause the resignation resigna-tion of Superintendent John M. Mills upon charges that will not bear investigation, inves-tigation, and "Whereas, the members of the Parent-Teachers' association of the Madison school district, this day assembled, as-sembled, having the best intoresta of the Ogden school children at heart, wish to express our confidence and j trust in Superintendent Mills, be it "Resolved, that tho Parent-Teachers' association of tho Madison district dis-trict school deplore tho strife within the Ogden school board and urge the retention of Superintendent Mills in his present position until there is just reason for his resignation. "PARENT-TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION." Mound Fort School. Meeting of tho Parents-Teachers Association of the Mound Fort district dis-trict was held last evening at 7:30 o'clock at the school building. J Messrs. Nylander, Swenson Nylander Nylan-der and Miss Vera Delamater gave J two excellent musical selections. Rob- ort Greenwell beautifully sang "Dear i Old Girl." MIbs Mary E. A motion was then introduced by Mrs. Taylor and seconded by Mrs. Harris, that the association sustain Superintendent Mills in his present position. The motion was heartily applauded ap-plauded and unanimously carried by the members. The meeting was then adjourned until February 8. |
