ADMINISTRATION IS CRITICISED Fort Worth, Tex., March 10. Governor Gov-ernor Colquitt in an address before the Texas cattle rangers today said: "I defy any authority on the face of the earth, Washington included, to prevent me from protecting our citizens citi-zens along the border. It is only the inherent right of self-defense. Whenever When-ever the situation demands I will deal directly with Mexico in righting wrongs and not wait for the federal Fovernment, which seems to stand In fear. "Ynu can't expect the United States soldiers to cross the border for thieves and murderers; oh, no; but the Texas rangers can do it. The federal government has not once assisted as-sisted any citizens along the Rio Grande when they appealed for aid, except when it was too late. The de-tense de-tense of tho people on the border belongs be-longs to Texas and. they shall have its full protection while I am governor gov-ernor I am trying to restrain myself, my-self, but it is almost impossible, In view of the outrages and indifference of the United States. These bandits cross our bonier, kidnap our people, steal our property, then go baek into Mexico and are safe. They know they are safe. They know Washington will do nothing. A resolution "agreeing with Mr. Colquitt in his action and his defense of the people of Texas" was ruled out of order on the ground that it was against the policy of tho association asso-ciation to enter into politics.
