Show BILL TO AID WATER SUPPLY OF CITY Washington, D. C. March .10. Sena-' tor Sutherland today introduced a bill intended to protect the water supply sup-ply of Salt Lake City. It provides that certain lands in township 1 ranges 1, 2 and 3, Salt Lake couu-ty, couu-ty, be reserved and withdrawn from all forms of entry and location, including in-cluding mineral entry, and sot aside as a municipal water supply for Salt Lake City. The lands are to be reserved for municipal purposes solely and be administered ad-ministered at the expense of Salt Lake City, under the supervision or the secretary or agriculture, who Is authorized to prescribe and enforce regulations nnd forbid persons other than forest officers and persons selected se-lected by the municipal authorities rrom trespassing upon the lands. All of the bills are for the purpose of protecting the city's water supplv. The bill referred to in the Washington dispatch would give the city authority over government lands in tho city watershed and permit it to enforce regulations against contaminating the waters of the streams that supply tho city's water. |
