Show STIEIIS GOING BACK TO WORK A North Pfa'tte, Neb., paper, received re-ceived -at. the Standard office,., states that, shop strikers are: going, back to work. The following is reproduced from the publication: "During the past sixty days about twenty shop men and car repairers who quit the service of the Union Pacific in October, 1911, have filed written applications to return to work. These applications', however, failed to .find favor with the officials at Omaha, and believing that It would he beneficial to the men, to the town and to the company to have these men accepted and given work, President Seeberger, of the Chamber of Commerce, went to Omaha Tuesday Tues-day night and met in conference with President Mohler. General Manager Ware and Superintendent of Motive Power Fuller. He was courteously received by these officials and the matter was discuBsed at length, with the result that Mr. Seeberger won out In his contention, and the men who have made application will be employed as fast as additional help is needed. The order was at once promulgated by Superintendent Fuller, Ful-ler, and yesterday Division Foreman McGraw was directed to take on three of the men. These are Matt Welch and Elliott, car repairers, and Will Owebs, a blacksmith. It Is expected that two or three boiler-makers boiler-makers will be notified to resume work in the near future, and that others, as fast as thoy are needed, will be given employment. Mr. Seeberger See-berger says the officials feel very friendly toward North Platte, and as far as consistent with good management, manage-ment, will help the town wherever possible." |
