Show 0. A. KENNEDY CLERK OP TRE FEDERAL GRAND JURY Yesterday afternoon Myron A. Smith, confined in the couuty jail charged with using the United States malls to defraud, directed, through his attorney, a communication to Chairman Joseph Mabey of the Federal Fed-eral grand jury, requesting that officers offi-cers of the police department and the sheriff's office be summoned before the grand jury to testify in his case which will be investigated by that tribunal. In explanation of the request, Attorney At-torney Chez states that it is desired that all the facts connected with the case ngainst Smith be brought to the attention of the grand jury, as if they are known, Smith will be exonerated. The grandjury has organized by appointing O. A. Kennedy of this city clerk and it Is said that today the board of inquisitors is getting down to real business. A number of witnesses wit-nesses are appearing before the jury each day and good progress Is being j made. The United States officers refuse to give any information regarding the investigations of the jury and say they will not state what cases are being investigated. 00 |
