(Chesterfield) Mackin. who was considered con-sidered a power In Illinois Democrat ic politics in 1884, when he was secretary sec-retary of the Democratic State Central Cen-tral committee, and who was credited with having introduced the free lunch in saloons, died early today at the Chicago state hospital for the Insane. After the Cleveland-Blaine campaign cam-paign in 1884, Mackin served a term in the state penitentiary on charges of election frauds. He had been ill for four months and was adjudged Insane In-sane last week. He was 73 years old. |
