Show NEW JERSEY TO BE WITHOUT GOVERNOR New York. Jan. 19. At 12 o'clock tonight New Jersey will begin its once in three years custom of getting along without a governor either elective or any other kind for about twelve hours. The old constitution is the cause of the dilemma in which the state finds itself. It provided that the term of the governor shall end at midnight on -the Monday preceding the Tuesdav when the governor is inaugurated. The inauguration in-auguration is never held till nooYi on Tuesday, so that the state is without a head during the interval James F. Fielder, Democrat, will become be-come governor at noon tomorrow. |
