PROPERTY OWNERS WIT TAXES : REFUNDED The city board of commissioners last night took official action on the matter of prohibiting coasting on all the streets of the city leading directly direct-ly from the bench to tho car line on Washington avenue, by referring the matter to the Buperintendent of public pub-lic safety. C Foley for liquor It- , censes were approved and the nppll- j cations for renewal of licenses were to certified to the Judges of the district fr court. J Property owners on Twenty-ninth 6treet, between Madison and Monroe avenues, petitioned the board to refund re-fund certain taxes on the frontage of their property, which was levied for the opening of Twenty-ninth street from Washington to Quincy avenues, 3 on the grounds that title is vested H In the city by right or possession for i twenty years It is claimed by the 1, petitioners that the roadway was first U6ed by the county and then by the city. The petition was referred to the city attorney. |
