Show UHION ASSOCIATION HAS PROMISING OUTLOOK A meeting was held today by the directors of the Ogden baseball club at the Weber club, with Ed. F Murphy, Mur-phy, president of the Union assocla tlon. A P. Bigelow, W. D. Brown E. S. Rollapp, H. M. Rowe. and Thorn as Carr were present. A discussion of the baseball situa tfon for 1014. in this territory, took place and in the opinion of those present pres-ent a continuation of the Union asso ciatlon looks promising. Among the details which were discussed were economy of management and the ar ranging of a schedule which would make the periods when the teams are away from home, considerably shorter short-er than they were last season. President Murphy will go to Poca-tello Poca-tello tonight to talk to the "fans' there and he expects to create enouph interest to have that city represented in the association. He will proceed from Pocatello to Boise Regarding the situation at Boise. Mr. Murphy said that he had received letters and telegrams from interested persons the nature of which had caused him to believe that Boise surely will come. He also thinks that Helena. Butte and Missoula will stay In and that there is a possibility of Great Falls asking for a franchise. On January 10 n meeting will be held In Butte nt which representatives representa-tives of all the prospective clubs will be present and some of the matters pending will be definitely decided up on. At present the prospective clubs are Salt Lake, Ogden, Butte, Missoula, Missou-la, Helena, Boise, and Pocatello. It, at the meeting on January 10, there is not another club in sight, something some-thing will have to be done to add one or drop one, as a schedule cannot be arranged for an odd number of clubs. nn |
