Show ARRESTED FOR CRUELTY TO ANIMALS As a result of a campaign Instituted Insti-tuted against drivers of lame horses by the humane officers, F D Drigs and H E Carr. three arrests were made during the last 24 hours and two of the defendants appeared before be-fore Judge Recder this morning Those arrested were James F Crosbie. John Bemls and Alvin Folger After pleading not guilty. James Crosbie changed his plea to guilty and then made a long statement of the events leading up to his arrest. He said the horse had been injured by stepping Into a hole in the street nnd he was now awaiting settlement j on the part of the railroad compan through the city. He declared that at times the horse was lame and at I other times did not limp perceptibly. Humane Officer Criqg stated that the horse could hardly walk yesterday yester-day morning and for that reason he had arrested the driver. rudge Reeder asked George Seaman Sea-man who was In the court to examine exam-ine the horse, and after Trouble had driven B snort time he declared th;il the limp was barely noticeable 1'pon condition that he take care of the horse and not drie It when lame 8 suspended sentence was recorded. re-corded. John Bemas was given a sentence of ! five days or $f for the same offense. When his name was called. P K ; Smith, his employer, answered and jjH stated that the boy was busy so he had appeared ln his stead. Judge Reeder stated that if the boy 'jjR was not present in court within 15 l)B I minutes bis bail would bo declared forfeited.
