Show A LETTER TO TEACHERS children cannot be expelled from school from saturdays standard letters were addressed to the city teachers and some of the county teachers today by judge calling attention of the teachers to the law recently enacted whereby teachers are not permitted to expel a child from school this was made a clause ot the ordinance passed when the juvenile court was created in this state tho proper and legal method is to report a child to the probation officer he in turn takes charge of the child that Is judged a delinquent lin quent and brings the offender before the judge 0 the juvenile court there such action is taken as in the wisdom ol 01 the judge is deemed wise the number of children on probation is gradually decreasing this morning twenty three reported and one of these was released on good behavior few cases of truancy are reported the following letter has been addressed to the teachers ot north ogden ogden utah nov 11 1905 to the teachers of north ogden it any children are tardy or negligent in their work or disobedient in your schools please hand their names to mr gurnsey the probation officer ot the juvenile court ot weber county dont expel any children air gurnsey will bring them in here and I 1 will take care ot them it they can not attend the public schools which aro provided by law tor them they will be sent to the reform school at once respectfully signed A B PATTON judge |
