Hi North Ogdon has juBt closed the H most successful fruit year in point of H yield In the history of this section, though the rgarkct has been the poor- e3t, and as a consequence thousands H of bushels have been left on Ihc H ground to rot, proving the necessity oi H a wholesale evaporating plant in this H immediate vicinity. H Tho beet harvest is starting hero H this week, the first car being placed H October 1G. The campaign no doubt H wil contlnuo unabated for a number H of weeks until between one and two Hj hundred carloads will bo loaded here. H The story of politics in tills place e H practically that of every other local- H ity in this ere at nation of ours this H year greatly mixed each of the na- H tional parties having advocates among our population and a number of them H being represented on the various tlck- H ets: John M. Bailey on the Democratic H ticket for four-year term commision- or and John I. Hall for tho two-year term county commissioner on the Pro- gresslre ticket. "vv, B. Jones and B. H E. Chatlaln occupy the positions ftB nominees on tho Republican tickot as town justice and constable, respectivo- H ly, and George E. Brown and Frank B P. Huband hold the same positions on B tho Democratic ticket. Neither of the H old parties have as yet held a rally H here, but George Sutherland Is billed fl to speak here on November 2. The Progressives have held one, Xephl L B Morris, candidate for governor on that H ticket, being the principal speaker. H The contemplated cutoff for tho H state road, eliminating the grade of H tho Warren hill between NorthOgden H and Pleasant View is now an assured H fact and work has commenced at tho H Pleasant View end. Before long grad- Hi lng on both ends wll lie in operation H with a large force of men and teams. H Two marriages have been consum- H mated this week in which two of our Hl young ladies have figured a3 contract- Hl ing parties, Miss Rhoda M. Judkina H to Joseph Crawford on the 11th inst., H and Mary Montgomery the day prevl- Hl ous to "W. Leroy Wiggins. Both grooms H aro of Ogden. H Ward conference of the Sunday H school of this place will be held here H Sunday. A number of the stake au- 1 thorltles are expected to be in at- H tendance. 1 Mr and Mrs. F. M. Blaylock, after H spending a few days with friends in 1 North Ogden, havo returned to their 1 home at Idaho Falls, Mr. Blaylock 1 made the, trip both ways by motor- H cycle, being able on one occasion to 1 make the trip of 190 miles in seven H hours and twenty minutes. H The schools of this place, with John H Q. Blaylock aB principal and assisted H by the MIsseB Olin, Lundsted. Bennett, H . Ewing and Jenkins, have just closed H their first month of the present school H year with a very creditable Bhowing. |
