Show MILL ON THE MARION MINE Arrangements have been completed complet-ed whereby a mill will be erected at once on the Marlon Mining & Milling company property at Charleston, a few miles from Jarbidgo, Nev., according ac-cording to John Bevan. Associated with him are a number of Ogden, and Nevada mining mon. Relative to the recent meeting of the directors held In Ely last week, tho Expositor says that W. S. Enslow, assemblyman from White Pine, returned Saturday evening even-ing from Charleston, Nev., where he went to inspect the property of tho Marlon Mining & Milling company. In which ho is heavily Interested and upon which development work has been carried on for the past threo years. Mr. Enslow reports that the condition condi-tion of the property was never better in its history than at the present time, and that tho company is now making arrangements to put a ten-stamp ten-stamp mill upon the same for the reduction re-duction of gold ores, a largo tonuago of which is exposed in the upper workings. For the purpos of discussing plans Tor the erection of the m'lll with the directors and officers of tho company, J. Bevan, formerly connectod with the Glroux company in this district, and who has had charge of tho Marlon mines for the past threo years, together to-gether with O. B. Madson of Ogden, a director of the Marion company, accompanied ac-companied Mr Enslow on the return trip to Ely. Monday evening a meeting meet-ing of the directors of tho company was called, and plans formulated for the commencement of work on the erection of a mill on the property at once At tho meeting the matter of financing tho project was also taken up and disposed of in a very satisfactory satisfac-tory and novel manner. By authority of a majority of tho directors and stockholders, the directors were Instructed In-structed to Issue bonds to an amount sufficient to assure the erection of the mill and to place tho same in successful suc-cessful oporatlon while carrying on tho development of the mines. Thcsa bonds were all subscribed for by tho directors themselves, and the necessary neces-sary capital thereby raised. Messrs. Bevan and Madson left for Ogden, where machinery for tho mill will be purchased and shipped at once to the mines near Charleston, and tho erection of the same will be begun at the earliest possible time From Ogden Og-den Mr. Bevan will return immediately immediate-ly to the mines, where he will begin at once the placing of the same In condition for the extraction of the ores. The property of the Marion Mining & Milling company, which Is composed compos-ed principals of Ely and McGill men, together with a few Ogden business men, lies about twelve miles southwest south-west of tho original Jarbidge discoveries discov-eries and on the same range of mountains moun-tains Charleston, however, being the most accessible and nearest supply point Development of the giound under the management of Mr Bevan and the direction of Mr. Enslow has consisted con-sisted mainly of tunnel work, but considerable surface prospect work has been done. The lower tunnel has tapped tho vein at a vertical depth of over 350 foot, but here, while ibe vein has shown remarkable strength and continuity, the character of the ore has changed from an oxidized oxi-dized to a sulphide, making of It an ore not amenable to free milling. The values have remained the same, however, and it is the intention of the company to ship these ores A smelter for -reduction just as soon as cheaper transportation facilities can be arranged. In the upper portion of the mine workings several thousand tons of free milling ores, carrying values from $10 to $25 per ton, are exposed; these the Marion company will extract ex-tract and run through its own mill while carrying on more extensive development de-velopment of tho mines. |
