The party will go to Dolores, Colorado, Colo-rado, whence they will travel westward west-ward into the field of operations, us lng saddle and pack horses. High water in tho Colorado river and tributary trib-utary streams makes it virtually impossible im-possible to penetrate into the unknown un-known country by the usual route through Bluff and Boab, Utah. The immediate purpose of the expedition ex-pedition Is to explore and excavate the ruins of a cliff dwellers city In Segle canyon, which was discovered by Professor Cummings on his last trip. . Owing to lack of tlrao he was then unable to Inspect his discovery fully. To all appearences the forsaken forsak-en city has never bv visited by a h.iman being since 4 builders deserted de-serted it many cent.ies ago. According Ac-cording to Its discoverer, the city In Segle canyon differs widely from others oth-ers that have been explored and evidently evi-dently relates to a much older period in the history of tho cliff dwellers. |
