Members of the committee commit-tee today considered the advisability of taking raw rubber from tho freo list as a means of raising revenue that would be lost by reducing tho sugai duty. "At the most" Chairman Underwood Under-wood said, "by putting rubber on the dutiable list, we could not raise more than $3,000,000. That would not mako up. for the list of from $25,000,000 to $30,000,000 that will be Inevitable in a big cut on tho sugar schedule. "We hope, however, to agree upon a bill this week. Wo have had many schedules prepared, only to bo torn up and thrown In the wasto basket. I think We can agree, and as soon as wo do, wo vill submit the bill to a caucus." |
