Show KLINE REFUSES TO TALK. Says Matter Now Rests With International Interna-tional Presidents on Calling Strike. CHICAGO, Sopt. 26. James W. Kllno, presldont of the blucksmlths and helpers' international union, who returned today from Davenport, la., refused to discuss the action taken at the conference "The mntter now rests with tho international in-ternational presidents," he said. It Informs me thnt the members of the unions had violated their 'contract with tho Illinois Central at Memphis. "I have had no timo to send a reply re-ply to tho rallrond, but I have telegraphed tele-graphed to the local officers at Memphis, Mem-phis, instructing them that no strike has been ordered and advising them to await action by the International presidents. The trouble at Memphis and soiuo other southern points Is due to the action of tho clerks. The officers of-ficers of the International unions now have the backing of all tho organizations organiza-tions in tho federation of railway employes em-ployes " Mr. Kline, when asked about a report re-port that the Davenport convention had sent a communication to officials of the Harriman railroads, said: "I cannot discuss that now." |
