From an altitude of 1,000 feet the bird- l man will drop imitation bombs onto an imaginary warsbip outlined 'i in white on the aviation field. I With the addition of a number "or free attractions and new Midway shows, the program at the Four-State Fair yesterday afternoon was the best since the show opened. The attendance attend-ance was large. Children from the Ogdon City schools turned out by the hundreds to sec tho birdman fly. The students of the State Industrial school were the guests of the fair management. manage-ment. The music of the Ogden City band yesterda'y afternoon was especially espe-cially pleasing. The balloon ascension nnd aero-piano aero-piano flights booked for the early part of the afternoon hud to he postponed until after 5 o'clock on account of the wind. Shortly after tho races liad closed, however, the wind subsided somewhat nnd the big balloon commenced com-menced to fill. While the hot air K bag was growing Aviator Walsh made ? two flights. A big portion of the '. ; crowd remained In the grandstand un- ; . til the aeronaut and the aviator had given their exhibitions, which were .' , not concluded until nearly G o'clock. tv. In both his flights the birdman B j did his usual cautious maneuvering ' : i at the start, returning to the flying ' ; field with a series of sensational dips. Tho b'plalie rould bo seen to encoun- j ! ler considerable wind when it had J reached a . height ol about 400 feet : from the ground. It swerved' and i ; plunged for a minute and then flew j smoothlj as It made more height and . ; encountered good sailing again. After the second llight tho aoro- i plane was roped in and tho spectators . - -were allowed to enter tho flying field. ' J Aviator Walsh explained the various parLs of his machino and gave a ton-minute ton-minute talk on aviation. After he had concluded his lit tie lecture he was warmly applauded. Coleman appeared in his first balloon bal-loon ascension in Ogden yesterday afternoon aft-ernoon and gave a spctacular exhibition. exhibi-tion. . He used only ono parachute, but will use tho triple jumping system sys-tem this afternoon and four parachutes para-chutes In his ascension Thursday. Coleman ascended about 400 feet, when the wind plckd him up and carried car-ried him about half a mile from tho fair grounds, where he alighted on a housetop. A number of persons In automobiles followed the route of tho balloon as noar ns they could. The aeronaut was brought back to the grounds In one of the cars. The drill by the Industrial School cadets and band was given again for the benefit of the childrn and proved ono of tho pleasing features of tho afternoon. The Four Flying Banvards, wjio have just arrived for the remaindor of the fair, gave two splendid exhibitions exhibi-tions in aerial casting and ring work. Two men and two women compose this company of acrobats. Their stunts aro cleverly executed, the effort ef-fort of the clown, who always docs a funny turn when It is most nee'led to enliven the act, being espcially good. The judglnc of Dorset and sheeo attracted at-tracted considerable attention from the spectators in the morning and a portion of the afternoon. The judging judg-ing was" commenced by James McLay of the agricultural college of tho University Uni-versity of "Wyoming, but will bo concluded con-cluded by John Rawllngs, a sheep owner of Forest, Ontario, and Prof. Ovlatt of the University of Wyoming, as Judge ItfcLjiy was called to his home In Laramie on account of Illness In Lis family.
