Show SHEEPMEN AT SALT LAKE HEARING An investigation by tho Interstate Commerce commission into the charges that tho rates charged by railroad companies on wool and hides from tho west to tho eastern market mar-ket arc unfair was taken up In Salt Lake city today by Examiner Wand Prouty. Sheepmen of Utah, Idaho and Nevada Ne-vada will be among tho witnesses heard in the capital. Following tho hearing, testimony will be talou at Portland, Ore., and Phoenix, Ariz. At today's session, F. A. Adams, traffic manager of tho Western Pacific Paci-fic railroad, explained that tho ratc.ot 51 from tho Pacific coast to Chicago as against a rato of $2.13 from Nevada points to Chicago was duo to water competition. J. W. Summorhays, a shipper of wool, said that he could ship wool from Modena, Utah, to Los Angeles, and thence to Chicago at a rate of $1.95 against a rate of 2.38 by direct route, |
