Show AGREAT INDUSTRY. The brick industry in Manti has great ly increased Since last season, and it is coming to the froi t at a rapid pace. One of trie principal establishments of this character is that of Horsely & Co., who are turning out the best quality oi brick south ot Provo. This plant wfis put in operation for the first time on July 15th., 1891, and during last season they turned out but 50,000 brick in all. This season however, they have more than doubled their capacity, and are turning out 10. 000 kiln burned brick per day. They have contracts for furnishing 400,000 brirk this season, but notwithstanding this fact they are piepared to fill orders of anv quantity on short notice. The company's kilns are located in the midst of a bed ol the finest brick clay, three miles south of Manti, on the county road. The plant cost about fSoo, and next season the proprietors intend to have an improved brick press in operation. The company comprises Mr. John Horsley and Mr. John Squires, both well-known businefs men, and practical brick makers. |
