Show . o HE OUGHT TO BE THE News has been asked if a young man dishonorably discharged from the army or navy is disfranchised. We ' do not know, but he should be. Any young man who joins the forces of Uncle Sam in this time of awful stress and trial and who so fails to perform his sworn duties as to merit and receive dishonorable discharge deserves nothing noth-ing from his Government, not even civil recognition. He is in a class with the I. W. W. anarchist. He is a hindrance and a menace to the flag which protects him. His unsophisticated, callow youth-fulness youth-fulness might be given as an excuse, but it is not a good reason. If his early training has been what it should be there is no good excuse for his disloyalty disloyal-ty excepting imbecility. |
