Reports from the rural districts ot the State indicate that thousands and thousands of farmers are buying Liberty bonds in $50 and $100 denominations. de-nominations. . The fact that $1.00 ia all that is necessary to pay down in cash when the subscription for a $50 Liberty bond is signed is proving a big factor in the subscriptions being turned in by farmers all over the State. Under the Government's plan of payment, only 2 per cent of the face value of a bond need be paid in cash when the subscription is signed. Thus in purchasing a $50 bond, the cash payment that must accompany the subscription is only $1. Then on November 15th the Government asks for a second payment of 18 per cent, or $9 in the case of a $50 bond. On December 15th a 40 per. cent payment pay-ment is asked for, which is only $20 in the case of a $50 bond, and on January 15th another 40 per cent is asked, or $20 at that .time. This completes the payment of $50 and the bond is delivered to the purchaser pur-chaser by the bank through which you subscribe. ' The same ratio of payment holds good in bonds of larger denominations. denomina-tions. 'This plan of the Government in asking 2 per cent with the subscriptions sub-scriptions and then 18 per cent on November 15th, 20 per cent on December De-cember 15th and 2 0 per cent on January Jan-uary 15th makes it possible for farmers to subscribe and pay for their bonds after they have received money for their crops. The entire State has been stirred to an increased patriotic fervor by the news that 1400 Utah boys who comprise the Utah Battery, which left this week for final training ln California before going to the battlefields battle-fields of France, subscribed $100,000 to the bond issue. Here in this locality the call has gone forth to the townspeople and farmers to come in and subscribe for the bonds that will send their dollars to. protect the sons and brothers who are offering their lives that American homes and farms may never know the ruin and devastation devasta-tion that has been visited on the homes and farms of all Belgium and northern France by the Huns.
