Show 4-II Young Folks, ! Joined I5y Others, ! Enjoy Club Outing Traveling many miles to the Ix-autiful site of Big flat in the Beaver mountains, the 4-11 club j i members from all of Beaver coun-j ty nut for the first annual 4-H j outing August 5 and 0. ! After setting up their various I camps, 90 members, parents and visitors met and witnessed a very, i impressive bonfire-lighting cere- mony, sponsored by Mrs. Ilick-j Ilick-j man's club from Milford. A bonfire bon-fire program followed, with com-l com-l munity singing led by Mrs. Smith ' of Beaver; stunts from each 4-H j club, and talks from Mr. Floyd, extension forester; H. M. Chris-V Chris-V onsen, forest ranrer for Fish I lake district, and Mr. Stoker, the ' county agent. ; The following morning at 6 i o'clock all members were aroused i by the bugle call. At six in the morning, the bugle , sounded loud, , We jumped out of bed and hollered for the crowd. ; They wouldn't budge an inch and i we couldn't get them to, So we grabbed a bucket of water. and they thought it was dew. ! The morning was spent playing : games, singing, story-telline and I getting acquainted. After dinner ! Mr. Stoker brought on a srand treat of watermelon, and wow! , Was it good! Hiking and baseball playing were features of the afternoon after-noon (and if you don't think baseball base-ball is good exercise, ask Mr. 1 Stoker how his muscles are). ; Honorable mention was given to , the first year 4-H foods club of Minersville, whose leaders are ' Reva Hollingshead and Phyllis Marshall, for having the neatest camping grounds and for partici-. partici-. pating actively in the events of ; the outing. The only boy's club represented, the Minersville pig ' club, led by Ralph Pearson, came fiext in line for honorable mention. The 4-H'rs wish to thank all of ; the parents for participating in i their outing. They feel that this I was a very successful trip and are loolng forward to another trip next year, t |
