Show Pod Pea Harvest Begins August 23 Harvesting of the local pod pea crop for the San Diego Fruit and Produce company will begin about Monday, August 23, according to Walter Weber, field superintendent, superintend-ent, who adds that those who desire de-sire picking jobs should register at the F. A. Stewart Feed store at once. Boys and girls from 12 years up are eligible for these jobs and the work in past years has proved ciiiite a lift to family financial needs. This year's crop of peas promises promis-es to be one of the best since the project was first started here. The season seems to have been an ideal one from a growing standpoint, stand-point, which, combined with a larger acreage, should make it possible to ship some 40 carloads this year. As before, the Parowan peas be-" ing raised for this company will be hauled to Milford for packing and shipping. Golden Nelson, of the packing staff of the San Diego company, will arrive in Milford Wednesday, August 18, to get things in order for the packing and shipping, which again will be attended to in the south end of the freight depot. Mr. Nelson will come here from Driggs, Idaho, where this company has been engaged in this industry on a large scale for several years. |
