We left Milford about 1:30 p.m. Thursday and had a very nice trip through the canyon in the open truck. We were treated to the sight of several deer. Upon arrival, ar-rival, Mr. Mastros helped us put up our tents and we made up our beds before dark. We then enjoyed enjoy-ed our first meal. After dark we were escorted to a large fire-ring among the pines, where a stunt program was beeun with a candle-lighting candle-lighting ceremony by our third year group. Mr. Christensen, our local forest ranger, also the regional forest director, di-rector, cave us valuable instructions instruc-tions about the care of our camp and fires. After the program the groups separated to their own camps to retire. We were awakened at 6 a.m. Friday morning by the bugle and were given two hours to complete our breakfast and camp duties. Our group then started on a walking walk-ing tour to the various camps and was joined by Mrs. Smith who led us in singing. Mr. Stoker organized organiz-ed games and then we started to play ball. It was soon time to start dinner and our main course was Italian spaghetti which was made in a bake oven over a fire and garnished garnish-ed with ashes. Following this Mr. Stoker treated .everyone to a watermelon bust, generously serving serv-ing pome !0 people. The Beaver creamery also donated a fresh 5-pound cheese. Our nature hike, which was scheduled to follow, was interfered with by rain and as it was still threatening we decided to leave before it started to rain again but were caught in a heavy shower on the way down. We arrived home about 0 o'clock in the evening. W e take this opportunitv to th ank MY. Stoker and the Beaver; creamery for their treats. |
