ARTISTS GET CRACK AT 'BOND PRIZE i The National Safety Council is I conducting a nationwide campaign ' to cut down the huge accident toll 1 that each year makes a mockery I of Christmas in thousands of American homes. The council believes one of the ' most powerful weapons that can j be used in this attack on accidents j is a newspaper cartoon that carries a real sock. Accordingly,' the coun- cil announces .its third annual 1 newspaper cartoon- project as a means of enlisting editors and cartoonists car-toonists in this campaign. Cartoons are referred to a group of nationally nation-ally known editors, who select the cartoon which, in their - judgment, best typifies the spirit and purpose pur-pose of the Christmas safety campaign. cam-paign. To the artist drawing the win-j. win-j. ning cartoon will go the council's j Award of Merit and $300 in Victory Vic-tory Bonds. ' The News, having no staff cartoonist, car-toonist, invites Milford high school students to participate. The best cartoon, in the opinion of local businessmen who will act as judges, will be published in The News and will be submitted as our entry in the national contest, with the student stu-dent cartoonist receiving the full $300 award.
