Show DANCE PATRONS ENJOY VISIT OF BOND CARAVAN A large crowd was in attendance attend-ance at the Saturday night dance in Arion hall. A message was received from the state war finance fi-nance committee regarding the need of a Victory loan. In charge of the Victory Loan Caravan from the Capitol City was Mr. Bud Fisher. He was accompanied ac-companied by three enlisted men and an enlisted member ol the Wacs. Each of them gave very inspirational taks on the necessity of a Victory Loan and one of the young men, an amputee from Eushnell, had only had his artificial arti-ficial legs one week, both of them above the knee, and even though most of the amputee cases do not even try to walk in less than a month, gave a demonstration of courage when he walked the full length of the dance hall pushing his wheel chair. Some $1600 in War Bonds were sold, a rather small ahount, but it is hoped that the people of Milford will come through- in the final stretch of the drive. Although. Utah is little more than half way of its $11,000,000 E bond quota in the Victory Loan drive, state leaders have appealed for eleventh-hour "heroic" measures during Pearl Harbor week. "Friday, December 7, is a date which we must never forget," said Charles L. Smith, state bond chairman. chair-man. "Four years ago on that date a stern challenge was laid down for our fighting men. They met that challenge. December 7 this week should be an equally stern reminder to all bond buyers and workers that our challenge is as yet unmet. Let's meet it!" The Victory Loan drive nominally nomi-nally ends Saturday, December 8, but bonds purchased throughout December count in the drive, since the accounting, period extends through December 31, Mr. Smith pointed out. "Two counties, Wayne . and Grand, have demonstrated how to finish the job," he added. "They are over the top. I know the other counties will strive their utmost ut-most to get over by Christmas. A-Victory A-Victory bond is the best Christmas gift money can buy. In addition, ivery Christmas bond will help Utah keep intact its 100 per cent bond buying record." Most counties not yet .over have planned treasure hunts, victory 3ances or civic club auctions to ?upplement the house-to-house canvass can-vass as cleanup measures. |
