Show Desert CCC Camp Will Entertain All Visitors Sunday Lieutenant H. S. Hamilton, acting act-ing commanding officer of C C C company 4763, located at Desert Branch Experiment station, 50 miles west of Milford, telephoned The News Wednesday and told of separate plans that camp is making mak-ing for a fitting observance of the fourth anniversary of the inauguration inaug-uration of the Civilian Conservation Conserva-tion Corps. It had been planned originally that this company and j that of the Milford camp should j join forces and make the local i camp the scene of a fitting joint! celebration, being more convenient; for the attendance of visitors from j throughout the county. Further! thought impressed those in charge with the desirability of separate observance of the occasion if the people were to be made acquainted with the work accomplishments of both camps since the Desert camp! is under the forest service, which, in turn, comes under the United States department of agriculture, while the Milford camp is a bureau of grazing camp, working under the department of the interior. The invitation to the general public to visit the Desert camp on Sunday, extended through The Xews, was later reiterated to the Milford Lions club through Lion J. R. Murdock jr., local merchant, to whom Lieutenant Hamilton also telephoned. As The News remembers it, the lieutenant said something of light refreshments to be served during The afternoon but we may have been mistaken on this score. Be that as it may, however, we can guarantee every visitor making the trip a royal welcome and entertainment enter-tainment well worth the trip. Cordial Cor-dial relations between the forestry personnel and various CCC units who have been attached to the Desert Branch station and the people peo-ple of Milford always have existed and visits at the station on the part of local people in 'he past have been notably successful almost al-most without exception. |
