Show u THE POWER OF THE PRESS ' The power of the press receives constant recognition from various individuals, concerns, corporations, political and religious groups throughout the nation always seeking that which will further their own interests without cost to them. We receive reams on why the canal from the Great Lakes should and should not be built along the St. Lawrence waterway ; we receive bales of health hints for homes, telling just what types of patent medicines will serve best; for the busy housewife, bundles bund-les of free recipes advertising some particular brand of foodstuff; complete booklets on Muscle Shoals; reams of literature urging preparedness; prohibition and repeal; religious discussions; data without end. It keeps us pretty busy at times. Helper Journal. |
