Show UTAH MINING INDUSTRY SHOWS IMPROVEMENT The mining industry, on which Utah depends so much, is on the road to prosperity, according to A. G. Mackenzie, Mac-kenzie, secretary of the Utah chapter of the American Mining congress. "It is clearly shown that the manufacturers man-ufacturers of copper products are now running on a larger scale than recently," be said. "During the second se-cond week in May there were more copper sales in the United States than in any other seven in the history his-tory of the copper industry. There were 196,000 pounds of copper sold for fabrication during that week, of which approximately 50 per cent goes into the electrical industry. "There are also 20,000 tons of ; lead less on hand than there were a year ago in Utah plants. The industries indus-tries utilizing lead, therefore, as well as the copper manufacturers, are go- j ing ahead with extended programs. And the prices on both commodities have gone up. All of which points to more prosperity for Utah." o t |
