Show ta TERM OF COURT CLOSED Two Criminal Cases Dismissed for Lack of Evidence Several Sever-al Civil Cases Go by Default And Others Continued. The May term of District court in ion that there is a trend towards in-Beaver in-Beaver county closed Friday. Jury trials were held in a few cases, but the majority of the court calendar came before Judge LeRoy Cox for determination. Among the criminal cases disposed of at this term of court was the State of Utah vs. Ernest Metzgar, charged with fornication. The case was dismissed dis-missed for lack of evidence. The State of Utah vs. Jack White and Jess McCash, charged -with calf stealing, was also dismissed for lack of evidence. Von W. Watts, who has been held in the county jail for several weeks, was released on bond, upon his promise prom-ise to provide for his family. Civil cases disposed of were as follows: fol-lows: Bonita Theatres Co. vs. F. Clark Kesler, judgement was rendered in favor of the plaintiff in the sum of $800.00 and cost. C. D. White vs. Geo. Bradshaw, Jr., the plaintiff was given a judgement judge-ment for the sum asked. E. A. Petty vs. A. J. Hutchings, suit on a promisory note, judgement in favor of plaintiff. In the case of J. D. Ryan vs. Beaver Beav-er County, on contract for gathering abandoned horses, the jury found no cause for action. This case required requir-ed the greater part of three days. Wm. B. Higgins, of Fillmore, Morgan Mor-gan and Huffaker, were attorneys for the plaintiff, while County Attorney Harold and Sam Cline were attorneys attor-neys for defendant and prevailing party. Two divorces were granted during the term Aff Allene Morgan was granted a decree from Kenneth L. Morgan, and Mettie Nowers was granted a decree from Geo. Nowers. A number of other cases on the calendar were held over to the next term of court, June 27, on the request re-quest of attorneys. |
