Show Spotlighting UTAH .- - J MURDOCK INSPECTS BUSHNELL Senator Abe Murdock, who In the lnerests of northern Utah recently re-cently Inspected the facilities of Bushnell General Hospital at Brig-ham Brig-ham City, showed the deepest concern con-cern over the fate of the big 12-million 12-million dollar army reservation which is slated to be abandoned by the army about June 30. He declared de-clared he was against shelving ihe institution unless it could be definitely de-finitely shown it is not adequate as a veteran's hospital following army evacuation. "If thorough investigation in-vestigation proves the hospital adequate for vetreans hospital operation, op-eration, I shall fight to prevent its abandonment," he said. ASKS NO-SMOKING LAW ENFORCED Attorney General Grover A. Giles has been requested by Chaplain Chap-lain John W. Fitzgerald, a Utah native, na-tive, and now at Camp Roberts, California, to enforce Utah's law prohibiting smoking on public buses. "Non-smokers," said Chaplain Fitzgerald, "object to breathing poisonous and obnoxious tobacco fumes in public vehicles." He urged ur-ged the appointment of state plain clothes officers to remove smokers from buses. WARNED TO FILE EAHLY Beware the March 15 deadline and file the state income tax early the Utah State Tax Commission urges. All persons, who if single, made more than $600, or if married made more than $1200 are required to file a return. Veterans are not exempt from paying state income tax. Although the 1945 legislature exempts from state tax all military mili-tary pay received since 1941, veterans veter-ans and service men are still liable for taxes on non-military income.
