Show Sutherland Holds West Millard 4-H Award Social A 4-H award social was held In Sutherland for all West Millard 4-H 4-H club members and leaders, Jan. 24. Miss Gormley and Mr. Ricken-back Ricken-back took charge of the evening. Miss Donna Christensen was chairwoman. chair-woman. To get into the 4-H spirit, the audience sang several 4-H songs. After this Maurine Robins sang a solo, and Ora Mae Bishop played a piano solo. Miss Gormley presented the 4-H awards and certificates to the girls. Special awards were given as follows: fol-lows: Ora Mae Bishop, safety a-ward, a-ward, record book award. Miss E-lizabeth E-lizabeth Moody, home beautifica-tion beautifica-tion award, safety award and the clothing achievement award; Elva Webb, victory garden pin, and 4th year 4-H pin. Mr. Rickenback presented the boys with their certificates. Reed Bunker received honorable mention men-tion for his 4-H achievements. After all awards had been made 'Mr. Rickenback conducted a "truth or consequence" program. Some of the consequences are as follows-Elaine follows-Elaine Gardner was to yell five good things to the audience about herself; Sancy Robbins, tried to describe de-scribe how to milk a cow with his hands in his pockets; Virginia Henrie sang "Bicycle Built for Two" like a broken record. Grace Adams and Beth Bunker tried to break crackers tied to each others heads, blindfolded; Wendell Knight looked at Marjorie Jeffery and was then blindfolded, he was to describe her costume, every time he missed he was hit with a frying pan; Jimmy Porter put "on a diaper on a teddy bear, with a little help from Zoe; Velda Boothe and Maurine Robins bobbed for an apple blindfolded; Mr. Leigh Allred tried to walk a string looking thru a glass tumbler; Bonnie Black and Don Morris tried to lead different songs with their batons connected by a string; Janet Sanford and Barbara Sorenson tried a new hair do on Ray Turner; Margaret Nielson Niel-son tried to sing while eating crackers. Theron Johnson drew a lovely picture of his girl while he was blindfolded. To end the program pro-gram off proper, Louise Skidmore, Jonel Henderson, Elizabeth Moody, Donald May, Scott Skidmore, and Merlin Theobald each ate a chocolate choco-late cream pie with their hands tied behind them. They won a cake for the grand prize. After the program ice cream cones were served to everyone. Although word was not received in time to tell the 4-H's Thursday night, Miss Donna Christensen won the $100 Ravmond Gray scholarship scholar-ship to the U S A C by her 4-H achievements and the story of her 4-H life. Her alternate is a girl from Holden. The annual meeting of the Utah Cattle and Horse Growers Association Associa-tion will be held at the Newhouse Hotel Feb. 15 and 15. A cattle-mans cattle-mans banquet will be held Sunday. |
