Show I , Farm Inflationary Signs Elements that might contribute to inflation continue to be seen ai the end of the second quarter 01 this year as compared to the enc of the same period last year, according ac-cording to data made available bj he Bureau of Agricultural Economics. Econo-mics. Demand deposits in countrj banks, consisting largely of check-ng check-ng accounts, were up 28 percent an increase partly accounted foi by large deposits of Governmenl funds. These checking accounts would be inflationary if used tc bid up price of land and scarce goods. Another inflationary sigr is that average per acre value ol farm real estate as of July 1 was up 15 percent over a year ago. Foi the quarter, cash receipts fron marketings were up six percent over a year ago and prices paid bj farmers for the things they buy-including buy-including interest and taxes were up five percent. The only non-inflationary factor, more than offset by increased receipts from farm marketings, was a decline of one percent in prices received by farmers. |
