Show School Opening Scheduled For September 11th. Registration Will Begin This Coming Week Millard County schools will open for the coming term this September Septem-ber 11, with high school registration registra-tion set for this week. Prospective Prospec-tive students will be advised through the mail just what clays will be for the registration. The week prior to the opening of school has been set aside for the teachers to attend a "refresher school" in Fillmore for which they will receive college credits. The teachers will leave by bus each morning for Fillmore at 7:45 and will leave Fillmore that night at 4:00. Instructors from the Stale Department of Education will he on hand for this course. The Delta High School teachers have been contracted for this year and include Glen W. Seegmiller, principal; J. H. Snow, Mrs. J. H. Snow, Merlin Christensen, Golden Black, Kenith Robins, Ruth Hansen, Mrs. Sterling Bennion, La Rue Nic-kle, Nic-kle, Anna Luke, Grant Snow, Marvin Mar-vin Ogden, Mrs. Louise Adams, Mrs. Elizabeth Stephensen and Lucille Lu-cille Billings. M. Ward Moody will be principal of the Seminary and Albert Payne will be the teacher. Students of the Hinckley High School will find many changes when they go back to school on Sept. 11. Since school closed in May, the entire building on the inside in-side has been repainted and cal-somined. cal-somined. The foundation and archway arch-way has been painted on the outside. out-side. Transluscem. glass has been put in all the windows and lavora-tories lavora-tories to make the building lighter. The woodworking shop has been painted and remodeled. A new welding booth for arc and acetylene acety-lene welding has been built in Hie workshop. Floors in the building have received repair and new desks for teachers have been installed. in-stalled. New desks and chairs have bee placed in the principal's ofice and the faculty room, as well as Venetian shades. An electric stove, a new refrierator, new silverware, and a dinner set has been placed in the home economics room. A new refrigerator has been put in the lunch room. One hundred dollars worth of oil paintings and prints from masterpieces have been bought and hung in the various var-ious class rooms adding to an already large art collection at the school. Funds for the paintings were furnished by a beautification fund set up by the school board. The students will also notice a new janitor has been hired. When school let out in the Spring, Orlando Or-lando Hepworth retired to do farm work, after serving the school for 13 years as janitor. Eugene Bishop was hired in his stead and has been working on the building all summer. A few changes will be found in the high school faculty this year. Lowell Bennett who has been a teacher in the school for the past. 8 years resigned his position to accept ac-cept a position in the welfare department de-partment at Topaz. Mrs. Phyllis Bennett wont be back and another change includes the bringing from the Delta High School Talmadge Christensen to be the coach. The two teaching vacancies have not been filled yet but will he before the opening of school. Joe Buchanan, Buchan-an, as principal, will teach matli and American problems. John Barton Bart-on will handle the ag. classes and shop. Miss Ruth De Lapp will be the home ec. and phys. ;d. teacher. Mrs. Lavell Johnson will be I lie English teacher. Bernice Hepworth will handle commerce. Mr. Ladd Cropper will teach vocal and instrumental in-strumental music and will he the seminary teacher. Mrs. Harriet Spendlove will teach speech and have the library in charge. Talmadge Tal-madge Christensen will be the coach and will teach history. The lunch room personnel has received one change with Mrs. Ren Taylor being hired to lake the place of Florence Stewart Smith. Mrs. Marnis and Mr. Anderson will be held over from last year. Four hundred dollars worth of canned goods has been purchased direct from the factory to he used in the lunch room this winter Registration of the .students will also be changed this year. Tin Saturday. Sat-urday. Sept. 9, at 9 a.m., registration registra-tion will be held in the A. C. Nelson Nel-son building in Dcserel for Oasis and Deseret students. In the forenoon fore-noon Sept. 11 registration will he held for Hinckley students at the school. Lockers will be issued in the affernoon for all students. |
