Show Hinckley Boys on Crew Garth Cahoon and Lee Pratt. who are both receiving their boot training at Farragut, Idaho, were recently chosen to be on a boat team at the camp. They have been competing for several weeks and last week their team which consists con-sists of 12 boys competed in the "jack pot" race and took first place which entitles them to compete with a winning team in Seattle in five weeks. There were six teams in the race with 12 men to a team The winners made the mile race in 6:23 in spite of a heavy rain. Thirteen thousand watched the race. The winners had their pictures pic-tures taken for the paper and were honored at the camp. Out of all the men at the camp it is unusual unus-ual that two from Hinckley were both on the same team and the winning team at that. Verrue Theobald writes that he met Rex Maxfield recently in the Admiralty Islands. Cpl. Chester Dalley is home on furlough from his station in the State of Washington, and will remain re-main until Sunday. He holds the Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Badge, the Asia-Pacific and Pearl Harbor Ribbon, and the Combat Infantry Badge. Miss Ra Rue Richins of Burley, Idaho, is visiting here with him. 1st Lt. Sheldon Baker of the U. S. Marine Air Corps from Salt Lake City, visited a few days at the home of M-S John I. Baker. He has served a year overseas. Sgt. Verl Allen, son of Mrs. Bryant Bry-ant Larsen, left Monday after psending a short furlough here. He came to attend he memorial services serv-ices for Lt. Leor Larsen. |
