Show Member of Unit Which Receives Commendation At an Eighth Fighter Command Station in England. Sgt. Byron T. Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Anderson, Leamington, Leam-ington, Utah, is a member of a unit which has received a commendation commenda-tion from Brigadier-General J. C. Arton, Wing Commander, for its contribution in aiding an Eighth Air Force fighter group to become operational in eleven days alter arrival ar-rival on this station. The group set a new Eight Fighter Figh-ter Command record when it was able to engage in combat in less time than it had taken any other fighter group to prepare for operational opera-tional flying. Prior to his entrance into the Army Ar-my in December, 1942, Sergeant Anderson was employed by the A-merican A-merican Smelting and Refining Co. of Garfield, Utah. He at present a radio operator and mechanic on this station. Mrs. Louise Clark received word that her husband D. F. Clark MM 1c, had returned to Washington from Honolulu, where he has been in the hospital. He has been given a 30-day leave. Lt. and Mrs. Glenn Allred left on Wednesday for Washington, D. C. They have spent the past twelve days visiting at the home of their mother, Lulu Allred. Lt. Dean Allred is stationed in Hawaii at the present time. Mr. and Mrs. John Dutson received re-ceived a telegram from the government gov-ernment that their son Pvt. Floyd E. Dutson had recovered from his wounds and was returning to the front in' France. Sgt. Gilbert Day has been home on a furlough before being transferred trans-ferred to an officer's candidate school. He will attend this school in finance for officers and on completion com-pletion will be commissioned a second se-cond lieutenant. Major and Mrs. Clarence Rollins and two children, from Boise,, Idaho, Ida-ho, are visiting this week with Mrs. Rollins parents, Leslie Pace and Geneva Pace. They returned to Boise Wednesday. Ramona Johnson is stationed at Farragut, Idaho. She has been advanced ad-vanced to Petty Officer 3rd Class. She likes her work in the storekeeper store-keeper department. Grant Overson, son of Mr. Lyman Overson, is home on a furlough. Ward Spendlove writes that he met Dean Allred, Ward Killpack, Howard Holman and Roger Walker in Hawaii. Gail Warnick had been there a few days before but had left. Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Warnick just received word from their son, CivM-lcs G. Warnick, S 2c, saying hc'liad been in France and is now In England. He is well and enjoying enjoy-ing himself as much as possiule. Pfc. and Mrs. Rondo Brough and two children, who have been in Spokanne, Washington, are visiting visit-ing in Delta with Mrs. Brough's mother, Nora Knight. Pfc. Brough is on furlough and expects to be sent overseas soon. They will also visit in Nephi with his parents. Mrs Brough plans to make her home In Salt Lake City. |
