Show Ivins Principal Speaker At Conference Antione R. Ivins of the- seven presidents of seventies and Howard Barker, welfare man, were the visitors vis-itors at General Conference" Sunday in Dleta. A special priesthood meeting on Saturday night drew a record number num-ber of men. Speakers at the morning session were Antione R. Ivins, Howard Barker, Roy P. Hilton, Christian Gronning and servicemen, Melvin Lyman, Carl Taylor, Stewart Stucki, Merlin Sampson, Dan Hansen and Howard Billings. Music was furnished by a priesthood priest-hood chorus of 20 voices from Hinckley Hin-ckley Ward, directed by Ladd Cropper. Crop-per. At the afternoon session talks were given by William B. Pratt, stake missionary president, Bishop Dell Bennett, new bishop at Deseret Deser-et ward, Cleo Bishop, new Sunday School stake president, Vera Hilton stake Relief Society president, President Harold R. Morris, President Presi-dent Ben Robison and Antione R. Ivins. Talmage Christensen sang a vocal solo, "Calvery"; a ladies chorus from the Delta Wards sang the closing number. This was under un-der the direction of stake chorister, Mrs. Norma Wright. The opening prayer was offered by High Councilman Coun-cilman Marcus Skeem, and the closing prayer was offered by Patriarch Pa-triarch C. R. Woodbury. J. Adelbert Bennett was released from the High Council, Roy P. Hilton Hil-ton was released as Sup't of Stake Sunday Schools, and as Senior President of the 21st quorum of the Seventies. Clair F. Gardner was released re-leased as secretary of the Stake Melchezidek Priesthood committee, Raymond S. Bishop as work director direct-or in the Stake Welfare Committee, and Lillie Wood as Relief Society Work director in the Stake Welfare Wel-fare committee. Cleo Bishop was sustained as Stake Sunday School Sup't.; Ben II. Robison as work director in the Stake Welfare Committee. Verna S. Gardner as Relief Society work dierclor in Stake Welfare Committee; Commit-tee; Frank Adams as secretary of Stake Melchezidek Priesthood committee; com-mittee; Carl Taylor and Stewart Stucki were advanced to elders. |
