Show Hinckley F. F. A. Notes . . The Hinckley chapter plans on conducting a rodent drive in the near future. We will hold this rodent ro-dent drive on the .same basis as . the one that we held last year. Last year we divided the chapter into two sides and then they collected col-lected rodents and the side collecting collect-ing the most number of pests was given a free party which was sponsored spon-sored by the losing side. The sides were Deseret and Oasis against Hinckley, Topaz and Abraham. Deseret and Oasis won by a large margin. The FFA public speaking contest con-test was held on the 6 of March. Representatives from all of the chapters in Beaver and Millard counties that wished to enter in this tournament met at Delta high school. At one o'clock the speeches started. There were some very good speeches given by these speakers, and after the speeches were given we went out to the lunch room to a banquet. Then the judges came in and announced ' the winners: They were- first, the Millard chapter: second, Hinckley chapter; third, Delta chapter, and fourth, Beaver chapter. The judges were George Whornham, LeRoy B. Smith and June 'Black. Our chapter scholarship committee commit-tee has been striving for better scholars in the chapter. They have given Buron Robinson an FFA jacket jack-et for his high marks in his high school work. They are improving their marks and help themselves in the school work. We have more than $300 in the chapter and we are still undecided undecid-ed whether to spend most of it to go on a trip this summer or buy some good registered stock and put it in the form of a chain for the students of this chapter. The Hinckley chapter will send a judging team to Logan to the stock show there on April 5 to show their skill at judging of animals, ani-mals, crops and mechanics. These students will be chosen by the a-bility a-bility they display at these tasks. There will be two poultry judges, three livestock judges, three dairy judges, two farm mechanic judges two crop judges, as well as three state farmer candidates. Last year the Hinckley chapter received the Beehive rating Gold emblem, which is the highest possible pos-sible rating. This was the only chapter in Millard county to receive re-ceive this rating. We are working toward the goal of again receiving that rating this year. Richard Dewsnup, reporter. Francis Hunsaker is in the Pay-son Pay-son hospital, where he has been treated and underwent an operation opera-tion on 'Wednesday morning. Mrs. Hunsaker is in Payson to be with him. Henry Conk visited here last week with his children, Bonnie Jean, Don and Sandra, and took his mother, Amanda Conk, to Snake Valley, where they visited his sister, Mrs. Wayne Louder and family. He left Delta Sunday to return re-turn to Provo for a doctor's check up, and his mother went with him for a short visit. |
