Show Scott Chesleyls Injured by Loaded Gasoline Drum Scott Chesley, of the Standard Oil Company, was badly hurt Monday Mon-day morning when a full drum of gasoline rolled onto his left leg. Mr. Chesley was at the plant loading load-ing the truck when the drum toppled top-pled over. He had just time to duck and save his head and his shoulders, and the drum struck him in the left thigh. He was knocked down and lay unconsciuos, how long he did not know, and when he came to he was bleeding profusely. As he was alone, he had to struggle with his mangled leg to the truck, climb in and drive to town. He went directly di-rectly to the hospital, where he was carried in. He had lost considerable blood, and it took some tme and a num-bef num-bef or stitches to repair the injuries. injur-ies. The tank (of a reported weight of about 400 lbs.) had cut the big thigh muscles almost to the bone. There was also a cut on his right forearm. Mr. Chesley was taken home from the doctor's and will be laid up for some time yet. It will be ab6ut three weeks before he will be up, and after that several weeks using a crutch. i |
