Show City Fire Department Called Out Monday The City Volunteer Fire Department Depart-ment was called out M.onday just after noon, by a fire alarm in Jess Western's place at Deseret. lie had been burning weeds, and the flames flam-es got into a patch of salt grass. They swept toward his home, but the fire was put oue before it got into headway. On the return to town, smoke and flames were seen around the reservoir, and the fire was located on the farm of Mrs. E. J. Jackson. Orson Cahoon, on a neighboring farm, had been burning weeds, and the fire traveled down the ditch bank, and swept into Mrs. Jackson's corral and chicken house which were destroyed by the fire before it could be put out. The fire alarm called the fire department de-partment out again Wednesday afternoon af-ternoon at three, and they put out a weed fire along the fence north of the Utah Poultry and Peppard Seed Co. building. The high wind that raged all day might soon have whipped it into a big blaze, but the department soon had it out. |
