Show Telluride Plans Expansion of System in 1946 The Telluride Power company will soon complete the repair work and new construction they are doing do-ing on their entire system that will eradicate any long periods that the public will be" without electric light and power. They are making an expenditure of $150,000, which will include horn gaps on every pole on the system, installing two new switches, one north and one south and putting a new copper line over the mountain from here to Richfield. The breakdown on the power line on March 3 was the longest time the community has been without power since the Telluride has operated here, and it is to prevent any such recurrence that this work is being done. The heavy storm of that date caused the breakdown, and possibly weakened the line, accounting for the short-time short-time breakdown of March 13. When this work is all completed the Telluride will be able to sec-tionalize sec-tionalize their line a little more completely and eliminate any long outages. It will also mean, that in case of the rubber plant coming here, or any such a large company, the Telluride will be able to supply sup-ply the power and take caie of them on either line, from Richfield Rich-field or Nephi way. When the job is done, the crews will have climbed every pole on the system, to check and install the horn gaps in the ground wire on each pole, to eliminate any trouble such as occurred on the 3rd They had to install new insulators, and on ohe they found the insulator insul-ator had been shot by a rifle and was lead-spattered, and had been done since they had been over the line on March 3. The power company wishes that people would stop before they shoot insulators and think of the trouble and outage that it will cost. The whole network is damaged damag-ed when it happens, and causes trouble and inconvenience to all who are served by the lines. There is a standing reward for anyone who is caught shooting insulators. |
