The National Highway Users Conference, and Emily Post, the authority on etiquette, have joined to promote better motor manners on America's streets and highways, to save lives and reduce congestion. The non-prof- it publication in booklet form of Mrs. Post's new "Motor Manners" was announced at a New York luncheon attended by some 150 industrialists and highway user leaders. Engagement Is Announced Mr. and Mrs. Paul C. Koger, Baytown, Texas, are announcir the betrothal of their daughte Doris Rae, to Merlin H. Workma: son of Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Woil man, of Delta. The couple will e change vows June 30 in the Man. temple. The bride-to-b- e is bein extensively entertained at bridj showers and parties in Baytown b fore her departure for Delta. Honor Fathers At Ward Party Saturday live All fathers of Delta Second ward and their partners will be honored at a party Saturday night, sponsor-ed by the ward Relief Society. A potluck supper will be served at 7p. m. in the recreation room in the base of the ward chapel. Those attending will each bring a dish of food to add to the varied menu for the supper. They are also asked to bring their own dishes ,a plate, cup, knife, fork and spoon. Punch will be served by the sponsors. Fol-lowing the supper, a program will be given in the chapel, opening at 8 p. m. ftae Ceremony Unites Couple ; k Hinckley In a profusion of flowers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alma West-- l ern in Hinckley, their daughter, Beth Western Whittacre, and Ver-non Woffinden were married on Saturday, June 11th by Bishop Walter Ekins, in a double-rin- g ceremony. The bride wore a dress of white brocaded organdy. Her corsage was of roses, with- trimmings. Other flowers were placed abund-antly about the house, with bou-quets of roses, snapdragons, pinks and Sweet Williams enhancing the room. Present were immediate mem-bers of the Western family, in-cluding the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Western; the bride's two grandparents, Mrs. Western and Mrs. Stanworth, the bride's sister, Alice Hawthorne and her husband of Delta, and Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Western of Provo. A three-tie- r wedding cake was cut and served at the dinner which followed. Both the bride and groom are residents of "Salt Lake City, and they will reside there in the future. The groom is a photographer, and is the owner of Intermountain Studios in Salt Lake City. Sunday school wil be held at 10 a.m. The Rev. Else was in Delta several years ago, a: student minister. The public i: cordially invited to attend these services. Miss Rosalind George is spend-ing a vacation at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Geo-rge. She will return Sunday to Og-de- n, where she is in nurses' train-ing at St. Benedict's hospital. Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Gronning re-turned alst week from Twin Falls, Idaho, where they visited a daughter, Louise, and to Montana to visit their daughter, Victoria. Chris caught one fish - - or maybe he got just one nibble. Altogether they had a dandy trip. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Jeffery and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wilson ol Cedar Fork and their families, spent the weekend on a camping and fishing trip in Nephi canyon. Mr. and Mrs. Max Hannifin and daughter, Cherie, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hannifin of Eureka, returned Monday from a two-wee-vacation in California. They visited Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego, Tia Juana, San Fran-cisco and Reno While traveling. Millard County 13 as Delegates Visit ISeimiorc The 5th Annual Field Day at the Benmore Station, Tooele Co., was held Monday, June 13th. Ap-proximately 175 people were in at-tendance. Thirty-si- x men from Millord Co. were on hand to receive instruct-ions on the best methods for seed-ing and care and management of crested wheat and similar grasses. Information was very timely and worthwhile. Outstanding was dem-onstrations on clearing land and different implements used in pre-paring land for seeding. Everyone seemed to feel very satisfied with time spent at the Station. Millard County is readily adapt-able to most of the types of grass planting experimental work that has been carried on. There are thousands of acres that could bet-ter be utilized for production of better feed for livestock grazing. Thousands of acres have already been planted in Millard County, yet, there is a definite need for more. Time nor space will allow for a detailed summary of events at Benmore Station. If any one desires more information on the subject a pamphlet has been prepared and can be obtained at the County Office. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Skidmore and children returned last week from a 12 day trip to Cal. Thy visited the Hoover Dam, and join-ed their daughter, Dorothy in Los Angeles and took side trips with her into the immediate vicinity; then to San Francisco, Lake Tahoe and home. Albert said they enjoy-ed the trip immensely. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Pearson are leaving Delta Thursday morning, driving to San Francisco, where they will attend the Commence-ment exercises at Stanford where their brother, Daryl Pearson, will receive his degree from the school of law. Farewell Party Honors Couple Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Jeffery and Mr. and Mrs. Eldro Jeffery were hosts last Wednesday night at a party honoring Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Johnson, who are leaving Delta to make a home at Manti. Guests wereMr. and Mrs. Alfred Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Clayson Cahoon, Mr. and Mrs. Van Bishop, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Billings, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Jeffery.- The social evening , was spent playing games and re-- j freshments were served later. Lyric Lore Lnds Season's 3Ieets The Lyric Lore club helld their closing meeting of this club year on June 3, with Mrs. Maurine An-derson as hostess. After a sum-mer recess, they will resume club in the fall. Dinner was served to Thelma Black, Olive Barney, Alice Gardner, Carol Schlappi, Mary Bassett, Lucille Hortin, Eleanor Skidmore, Verna Gardner, Maur-ine Jeffery and Cora Harris. Elec-tion of new officers for the next year resulted in Verna Gardner, president; Mary Bassett, vice pres-ident; Lucille Hortin, secretary, and Harriet Eliason, reporter. ! ! U.S. Treasury Department Arlo Steel is spending a convalescent leave in Delta with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Steele. He is improving rapidly after major surgery at the Oakl land Naval hospital several weeks ago. He arrived by plane in Salt Lake City Saturday and was met there by his mother and Blaine, Bob and Sherman Jones. Mrs. J. Avery Bishop went to Salt Lake Saturday to visit her (laughters, Miss Ora Mae Bishop, and Mrs. Gam Brown. Mr. Bishop joined her there Tuesday, Miss Bishop left Wednesday for Minnea-polis, and will serve a two-ye-mission in the north central states. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Gonder, and daughters Lila and Kate, from Garrison, are visiting in Delta with Mrs. Gonder 's mother, Mrs. Conk. U.S. Treasury Department Beekeepers Set Annual Outing Of Stake Beehive The annual outing for Bee Hive girls of Deseret stake will be held Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, June 22, 23, and 24, in Oak City canyon. Stake beekeepers,' Mrs. Zola Bunker, Mrs. Arprilla Scow and Mrs. Ellen Morrill, are in char ge of arrangements. All Bee Hive girls are invited to attend, including Primary and the Bee Hive graduates. Also invitat-ions are entended to all ward MIA presidents, and any parents who would like to attend. The three-da- y encampment will be filled with activity for the Bee Hive. Camp sites will be erected the resort in the Canyon. Each day there will be hikes and nature study. On both nights, Wed nesday and Thursday, there will be a program around the bonfire, and visitors will be welcomed . Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Hilton were in Salt Lake City this week visit-ing their son, Elder Bruce Hilton, who departed Wednesday for the New Eengland states mission field. Mrs. George N. Church has re-turned to Delta from a visit in San Francisco with her son, Jim, and family. She made the trip down two weeks ago, with Mrs. Grant Church, who is remaining for a longer visit with her daugh-ter, Mrs. Bob Ashby. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Church drove to California last week to bring thir mother home. They drove down the coast to Los Angeles and Riverside and on to Delta. Mr. and Mrs. Vard Tucker and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fullmer and their son, Elden, from Cedar City, spent the weekend at Fish Lake. Mrs. H. Wayne Holt and infant son, of Enterprise, are visiting this week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Snow. Mrs. Snow and daughter, Glenda, spent the preceding week visiting at Enter-prs- e, and Mrs. Holt drove them home. Mr. Holt will join his fam-ily here later in the week, and accompany them home. Leon Theobald has returned to his duties in the Delta postoffice after three weeks in San Francisco for medical treatment at the vet-eran's hospital.
