Show A. P. Anderson Dies Friday Victim of Fumes Andrew P. Anderson, 65, Delta high school teacher, died Friday at 7 p.m. in a Salt Lake hospital. He had been treated as a critical case since he was found Tuesday morning overcome by natural gas fumes escaping from a furnace. Mr. Anderson had taught at the Delta high school since 1945, with classes in chemistry, biology and geometry. After the close of school he had gone to Salt Lake City, and was looking after the home of his son, Reese C. Anderson, 1337 E. Fifth South, while the son and family were on a vacation trip in Pittsburgh, Pa. He was alone at the house and did not answer the telephone Monday evening. Tuesday morning, two nephews, calling at the house, discovered Mr. Anderson, then unconscious. He was taken to the hospital gained consciousness, and died 4 days later. Mrs. Anderson had been in Alaska for the past year, teaching school. Their daughter, Gwen Marie, joined her there recently re-cently for a vacation and trip home together. They, and the son, were notified of Mr. Anderson's condition, and returned to Salt Lake City before his death. Mr. Anderson was born in Fillmore Fill-more April 8, 1885, a son of Christian Christ-ian and Anna D. Anderson. He attended elementary school in Fill more, and later the BYU in Provo, receiving his degree in education there in 1908. Later he received a degree in agriculture from the US AC in 1914. He taught in Idaho schools for many years, here he was also active ac-tive in 4-H club and Boy Scout work. From 1943 to 1945 he taught at the Topaz war relocation center. cen-ter. Since 1945 he had been a member of the Delta high school faculty. He was married to Naomi Reese August 18, 1915, in the Salt Lake temple, who survives him, with their son and daughter. Also surviving sur-viving are five brothers and six sisters: Nephi Anderson, Los Angeles; An-geles; Joseph F. Anderson, Salt Lake City; C. H. Anderson, Ogden; Wilford J. Anderson, Provo, and Evan Anderson, Fillmore; Mrs. Esther Es-ther A. Huntsman and Miss Geneva Gene-va Anderson, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Katherine Anderson and Mrs. Mabel Ma-bel Anderson, Grantsville; Mrs. Zina Kelly and Mrs. Sarah Higgins, Fillmore. A lifelong member of the LDS church, Mr. Anderson was active in many church works, and was a member of the seventies quorum and a Sunday school teacher in Delta Second ward. He was kindly and sincere, and well-liked by pupils, pu-pils, faculty members and a wide circle of friends who regret the accident that caused his untimely death. Funeral services were held in Salt Lake City Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the bishopric of Delta Second ward presiding, at 260 S. Main. A large number of fellow ward members mem-bers and school associates attended. attend-ed. Graveside services and burial was in the Logan city cemetery. SUMMER RECREATION |
