Show Cedar Redmen on Road against Provo - A.F. action this past week they downed defending 4A champions. Bingham rather convincingly. "They are bigger than Provo with fi-5 and 6-7 men up front and they play power basketball," Neilson said. "They bring the ball into the big kids and then just put it up until they score," he said. Defensively the Cavemen will apparently apply a full court press from start to finish. "They just never, let V up." Neilson observed. As for the Redmen they should be ready physically. They go into this week's action after scoring a victory vic-tory over Boulder City to wind up 1978. "If we can get both the mental and physical effort that we need it could be a big week for us," Coach Neilson stated. "We will have to play better ball than we have during the past to salvage any victories in this week's three game series.' : It's a tough road for Cedar High School basketball this Week as the Redmen will host the two of the top 3-A clubs in the State Friday and Saturday evening. The Redmen will take on the Provo Bulldogs Friday night in league action and will tangle with the Ciivemen of American Fork Saturday evening. Tip-off time both nights will be at 730 p.m. Junior Varsity and sophomore games wilt be played at 5:30 p.m. "I rank Provoasone of the top clubs in the 3A division this year," Coach John Neilson stated after scouting them last week. The Bulldogs defeated Orem in a non-league encounter quite convincingly and they hold ah enviable record of 4 and 0 in; Region Six competition. jThe Redmen had a war-mup war-mup Wednesday night as they traveled to Payson to take on the Lions. Payson had a record of 2 and 2 in league play with victories over Spanish Fork and Springville -- two clubs that have defeated the Redmen this season. Friday night, however, the Redmen will be back on their home court against the talented Bulldogs. "They 'are big up front with 6-6 and 6-5 height. They are good shooters from outside and have the quickness and size to be really tough," Neilson said. Primarily they play a three guard offensive with the two big men in the middle. "They can run, or they can play a disciplined ' game, depending' oh the opposition." Coach Neilson said. Provo will have met the Dixie Flyers on the Bulldog court in Provo in Wednesday action, before tangling with the Redmen. Saturday night represents an experiment in Region Six and results in a change from the original schedule. The Cavemen requested that they be able to come to southern Utah and play both Dixie and Cedar on the same trip. They are scheduled to meet the Flyers in Dixie Friday night and they will remain in southern Utah and take on the Redmen "The Cavemen can best be described as aggressive," Coach Neilson stated. In |
