(Chris) Christiansen, Chief at the Cedar City Flight Service Station since 1952, retired on Dec. 31, 1978 with 40 years of federal and military service. A retirement party is being held in his honor at the Town & Country Restaurant in Cedar City, Saturday, Jan. 6 and 7 p.m. Those who would like to attend, should contact the Cedar City Flight Service Station for reservations. ' For the past 26 years Christiansen has served as Cedar City Flight Service Station Chief. He began his government career when he reported for duty with the Airways Communication System at Beowawe, Nev. on January 1, 1939. During his career, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a tower chief in the U.S. and European Theatre of Operations, serving in England, France and Germany. After World War II, Christiansen returned to the Airways Communications Svstem as Chief of the Fairfield. Utah Flight Service Station. It was there that he met his wife. Marge. From Fairfield he moved to Battle Mountain, Nev. as Chief of the Flight Service Station, and then on Nov. 11, 1952. moved to Cedar City where he has been assigned until his retirement this past -week. Christiansen, has earned the respect and admiration of his fellow co-workers and of those who have served under him. During his career, he has earned numberous awards. |
