Show Organizational changes announced atSUSC year athletic program in 1967, will assume full time teaching assignments, assign-ments, under the announced program change. Other prersonnel and organizational changes announced at the meeting included: -The position of "grants officer" will be expanded and the title changed to "federal affairs officer." The new federal affairs officer will serve under the supervision of the vice president for academic affairs. Pauline Nelson is the current grants officer. -The position of "budget officer," now held by Gary Banks has been eliminated. Banks, who has announced an-nounced that he is leaving the area to accept employment elsewhere, will assist in the SUSC business office until June 30. -Paul Daniels, college accountant, will assume duties as personnel director, a position formerly held by Tony Johnson, who accepted other employment this fall. -The campus security operation, headed by Kent Hoyt, will be supervised directly by the vice president for financial affairs, rather than by the controller of physical plant. -Gary Davis, superintendent of alterations and repairs will-for health reasons-become a maintenance technician. Applications will be solicited for a new superintendent of alterations and repairs. The maintenance position became available upon the retirement of George Carpenter. Major organizational changes affecting the School of Continuing Education and the Athletic Department Depart-ment at Southern Utah State College have been announced by President Orville D. Carnahan. The changes were made public Tuesday afternoon at a general faculty and staff meeting. Under the new organization, the School of Continuing Education and Public Service will be eliminated, and programs now administered by that school will be the responsibility of the Dean of Academic Affairs. The position of assistant vice president for academic affairs will be created, and that person will assist in administering the programs formerly handled by the dean of the School of Continuing Education and Public Service. The new assistant vice president position will be a new position, but will not increase the administrative staff, since the position of dean of continuing education has been eliminated. Dr. McRay Cloward, the current dean of continuing education, will continue on the faculty as a professor . of psychology. The new program will be instituted . between now and the end of the 1979 summer school sessions. President Carnahan indicated. The new assistant vice president has not yet . been selected, but will assume his duties before the start of the regular 1979-80 school year. President Carnahan also announced an-nounced that before the end of June a new athletic director will be named and that some organizational changes in the athletic and physical education departments will be made.
