I "Good health should be at the top of our New Year's j resolutions," says Myrtle j Jacobson, Christmas Seal j volunteer of the Utah Lung : Association. "Christmas Seals are a great aid to good lung health," continues Mrs. Jacobson. "It's not too late to send in a healthy con- i tribution to good health. For anyone who has delayed getting that vital envelope in i the mail, the New Year is the time to do it." Ninety percent of Christmas Seal contributions con-tributions remain in the state. They are used to fight lung disease, including emphysema, asthma and chronic bronchitis. For many years, ennstmas Seals fought against tuberculosis "untilgovverful drugs were discovered1' control that once dread disease. Today, in addition to many lung diseases, cigarette smoking and air pollution have been declared enemies by the Lung Association. Christmas Seal gifts help teach yount ers in school to resist cigarette smoking and help adults to "kick the habit." Funds are also used to support adult respiratory disease self-care classes and family asthma programs around the state. A retired employee of a Salt Lake allergy clinic, |
